The general purpose of the project is the improvement of Mediterranean organic olive-growing competitiveness through the sharing and the know-how transfer. BIOLMED initiative aims the following specific objectives:

• Sharing and transfer of company integrated management systems on production chain quality (Europe and international organic certification systems, food security, typical productions) in order to make easy the administrative management and to allow company the access to the international markets
• Enhancement of the control efficiency in order to favour the transparency towards consumers and public institutions (responsible for surveillance) through an innovative e-platform;
• Development of local markets through the strengthening and the sharing both “Group Purchasing Organization” (GPO) and organic farmer markets experience
• Formal constitution of a BIOLMED transnational permanent network made up of (BIOLMED) regional front offices.

Improving competitiveness of Mediterranean organic olive-growing farms

The main topic of the project is the improvement of the competitiveness of Mediterranean organic olive-growing farms. Regions involved in the initiative, although representing the most concentration of organic olive oil production, show a poor penetration capacity on local and international markets. Overall, a need to create a relationship and knowledge network among subjects who for many years have filled an important role on the territory at local level (BIOL exhibitions).
