IndicatorsPositive environmental impacts of the Biolmed projectThis project leads to a positive impact on the environment, since it aims to transfer innovations to both production and consumption procedures, in order to further reduce the environmental impact of organic farming. Promotion of organic farming means not using synthetic chemical pesticides and fertilizers; reducing strongly emissions of all greenhouse gases (CO2, NO2 e CH4); reducing the nitrates percolation into surface and ground waters; reducing to zero the risk of waters contamination; decreasing the soil erosion; favouring the formation of an agricultural income such to reduce the massive abandonment of rural areas. Furthermore, organic agriculture contributes to the reduction of energy costs, because it promotes the organic product season ability, the short production chain.
