Project partners & Steering committee
Who are the Biolmed partners
Partner competence choice based on the role they had in Biol organization and on scientific and technical experiences. This is the reason for which component 2 (BIOLMED permanent network) will be coordinated by SEAE, organic historic association with international consolidated contacts through IFOAM (International federation Organic agriculture Movements).
Specifically MAIB lead partner manages an international network on Mediterranean organic agriculture (MOAN) and it has developed, together with Apulia Region and Ci.Bi the production chain quality manuals within Interreg III Italia-Albania. On technical and scientific experience side, the Technological Educational Institution of Ionian Islands (TEI) will coordinate the development of Component 3; to improve the control and the surveillance system the project will use the competences of various certification bodies, Ci.Bi in particular that will coordinate Component 4. Ci.Bi will coordinate the initiative on local market, sharing the experience gained through the organisation of Group Purchasing Organization and farmer markets. The capitalisation of results and the Biol Prizes organisation will be coordinated by DIO, Greek organization that for many years has been organizing these events in Greece, Spain and Italy.

Which are the Management structures of the Biolmed project Steering Committee (SC)
The SC will consist of one representative per partner responsible for the activities and being a reference for the country he/she belongs to (4 in total) and one Chairman (an international expert independent from partner organizations). Furthermore, the PM will be invited to participate in the SC meetings. The SC will therefore be composed of six members. One of the SC’s functions is to check the technical and financial adequacy of actions carried out within the project in terms of possible effects on the territory.
The SC will carefully read biannual reports (presented and discussed by the PM) and intervene in case of delays and/or problems with partners or countries that can negatively influence the project’s effects on the territory. Hence, activities carried out and results obtained up to that moment will be analysed, verified and redirected (if need be). The SC will ensure the largest transnational coverage of the project, by guaranteeing the highest sharing of knowledge and experiences between partners. Partners will keep in touch through meetings, intranet, emails or ordinary mail in order to verify the efficiency of actions and instruments set up by the project. The SC will meet for the first time at the beginning of the project (kick-off meeting) to schedule in detail the project activities. Then, it will meet every six months, for a total of five meetings, in each single partner country
The project management structure will consist of:
- Management Coordination Unit (MCU)
- Steering Committee (SC)
- External Auditor
The MCU is composed of:
- Financial Manager (FM)
- Project Manager (PM)
- Secretary
The Management Coordination Unit (MCU), is headed by the PM and is set up to coordinate the full implementation of the project’s activities whose organization, planning and control are completely under its responsibility. The Lead Partner (LP), though the MCU, will be therefore in charge of monitoring and verifying both the technical implementation and the financial management.
The Financial Manager will accomplish the following tasks: ensuring the general administrative functions necessary for a good management of control and monitoring functions; transmitting and organizing accounting/financial reports; assessing the eligibility of incurred expenditures and the compliance of the statement of expenses with the activities performed; giving all partners technical advice; drafting the project’s final report (to support the PM); looking after other aspects concerning the actions implementation (agreements, contracts, resolutions, etc.)

Management of the project
The Leading Partner (LP) is responsible for the presentation, coordination, management and complete implementation of the project, by carrying out an integrated monitoring of technical, administrative and financial aspects and assessing the success of the initiative.
This LP’s task finds its maximum expression in the Permanent Transnational Network. The Lead Partner has also the function of assessing the quality of the technical-scientific and informative material. The monitoring activity of the LP will also consist in the evaluation of the efficiency of the activities outputs, through the assessment of the users’ feedbacks during meetings and BIOL exhibitions. It must also verify the project’s repercussions on local authorities, by contributing to the enforcement of organic regional development policies. In order to control the quality of activities carried out, the LP will appoint a Management Coordination Unit (MCU). The MCU will set up an internal procedure to evaluate the time adequacy of results and their compliance with goals the application form proposed to attain.
To better guarantee the project success, a Steering Committee (SC), with territorial representatives, and an External Auditor have been appointed. They both play a double role: supervising and orientating the project activities in order to ensure the project quality. The SC has also the task of verifying the territorial and transnational coverage of activities carried out by the project partners.
